CIPD Professors

CIPD professor are experts in their fields and are often sought after to give seminars and workshops on a range of topics. Some of these include the basics of leadership, management, and human essay helpers and more advanced subjects, such as strategic management and executive coaching.

Harry

Chartered Fellow of the CIPD, Professor Harry Barton has worked in research and policy development for twenty years. He has been elected to the British Academy of Management, and has been given responsibility for dialogue with comparable institutions globally. His work has been published in leading management journals. His research has focussed on innovation, organisation studies, and social aspects of innovation. His work has also been funded by the UK's Economic and Social Science Research Council. He has also been a part time HR consultant for Watson Marton Ltd.

Prior to his current position, Professor Barton was a Professor of Human Resource Management at Nottingham Business School. He has had a longstanding relationship with CIPD in Wales. He has been a part of the Board of the South Wales Branch, and has contributed to the CIPD strategy workshops. He was personally responsible for the development of the Regional Business Plan. He has also been elected as Chairperson of the Public Management and Governance Special Interest Group within BAM.

Carol

Currently, Carol is a full time academic at the University of Surrey. She was previously a Reader in Human Resource Management at the University of Plymouth. Aside from her scholarly output, she has also held various positions within CIPD. She has been the subject of several academic articles and has even supervised several PhDs. She is a member of the Chartered Association of Business Schools' Research Committee and the Good Employment Charter Board for Greater Manchester. She has been a member of the CIPD's Advisory Panel, a fellow of the British Academy of Management, and has been a peer reviewer of several papers. She has also received a number of awards for her work.

Gail Kinman

Chartered Psychologist Gail Kinman has been studying work-life balance for some time. Her latest research explores the benefits of a good work-life balance. In addition, she is currently studying the resilience of health care professionals. She has worked with numerous organisations, including the NHS and social care providers. She is a member of the British Psychological Society's Work-life Balance Working Group. Her previous studies include a study of work-life conflict and emotional intelligence. Her current work focuses on enhancing the emotional resilience of health care workers.

Another key area of interest is the ways in which the working conditions influence sickness behaviour. She is also a member of the Board of the Council for Work and Health. Her other notable achievements include her award-winning paper comparing the performance of collective and individual performance-related pay systems.

Tony

Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Professor Tony Edwards is a globally recognised academic and the author of a widely used textbook. He has also authored forty articles in refereed journals. His research has been published in a number of prestigious organisations including McGraw Hill and Sage. He was a Visiting Professor at the University of St Andrews and a Visiting Honorary Professor at the School of Management at the University of Limerick.

He is currently an International Advisory Board Member of the British Journal of Industrial Relations. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute. His research focuses on comparative employment relations and the employee voice, trade union organisation, HRM and organisational performance, and work equalities. His publications have appeared in Organisational Research Methods, The British Journal of Management, and Work, Employment & Society.
