What are the requirements on the programme?

The WDA is aiming to be as flexible as possible for all people participating. Therefore, we only have one requirement - to develop your own digital portfolio or website that demonstrates your journey learning about technology. Rather than require a type of formal assessment, we want you to learn and develop with a resource that you can continue to throughout and beyond the programme. The following are recommended guidelines that we will use to give feedback on your portfolio at a later, but these are not essential.

The requirements are:

1) The creation of a digital portfolio (submit by Friday 26th April 2024)

Using either the website platform Wix or social freemium reference tool Linktree, it is recommended that all students create a portfolio which showcases:

Your aspirations or vision for the future - This could include a CV, key achievements at university, information on publications, your life vision...what is your story?
Use of a social media - In the modern world, using social media is seen as vital to maximise your audience engagement, promote your work, and be part of many wonderful communities. Depending on your circumstance, you may only want to use one or several.
A particular theme - Throughout the year, we will go over different focuses for the kind of portfolio you may wish to pursue - whether for a prospective job, idea for self-employment, a particular technological skill you wish to illustrate, or an area of research. You may already have one in mind!
An example of technological development - You will be learning about several areas of technology at WDA. What could you potentially demonstrate? It could be the creation of a blog, videos, illustrations, a design draft, audio recordings, annotated screenshots, research notes or abstracts, an initial survey or example of data collection, or similar. You could show many things in your portfolio.
A unique outcome, product or creation by YOU - Depending on your area of interest, this can include a live online shop, a published essay, a podcast, the creation of a brand and much more!

We also strongly recommend that you...

- Attend most seminars (pre-recorded or live), and either 2 drop-in sessions or 2 tutorials

To make the most of the programme, we recommend that you watch or attend most of the main sessions/workshops each month to learn about a wide range of technologies. There are only 1-2 main sessions each month, as well as pre-recordings available. Where possible, we also record live sessions. We also suggest that you attend either 2 drop-in sessions or 2 mentoring sessions to get effective support.

You will need to register your TEL Champion Activities by using the code 'AC097' on your academic record. This will then be verified by a member of the TEL Team once you have completed the activities stated above. If you're not sure how to do this, go here.
